ISO 12944-Aligned Coating Systems for Harsh Atmospheric and Immersion Conditions
System-based coating recommendations for C4, C5, CX and selected immersion environments, developed around substrate, preparation, DFT, exposure severity and target durability.

Complete system thinking
Performance depends on the complete system.
In severe environments, coating performance depends on the complete system: surface preparation, primer, barrier layer, topcoat, dry film thickness, curing, application conditions and service exposure. TranaCorr develops and recommends system pathways aligned to ISO 12944 thinking for harsh atmospheric corrosion categories and selected immersion needs.
| Category | Exposure meaning | TranaCorr system direction |
|---|---|---|
| C4 High | Industrial and coastal atmospheres with significant corrosion risk. | High solids epoxy primer / barrier / PU or epoxy finish systems. |
| C5 Very High | Severe industrial or marine atmospheres with very high corrosion stress. | Zinc-rich or zinc phosphate primer, high-build epoxy barrier and suitable finish. |
| CX Extreme | Extreme industrial, offshore or high-salt environments. | Heavy-duty multi-layer system with robust barrier protection and validation. |
| Immersion | Continuous or frequent wet service in water or selected chemicals. | Immersion-capable epoxy / novolac or selected system after technical review. |
ISO 12944 durability categories are not warranties. Final system recommendation must consider actual substrate, surface preparation, environment, application method, inspection plan and customer specification.
Technical conversation
Ask for a system pathway, not a single-product promise.
Our recommendations are aligned to exposure, preparation, film build and customer requirements.
